Sturmey Archer Hubs
Sturmey Archer has been around for over 100 years making geared wheels and hubs for bicycles. In 1902 Henry Sturmey and James Archer worked on a 3-speed hub, resulting in the first Sturmey-Archer 3-speed bicycle gear hub patent. This was the start to a company that would come to manufacture some of the best hubs today. With all that experience behind the company, no matter what type of hub or cranks you’re looking for, you’re bound to find exactly what you need and at the highest quality available.
Besides just hubs and cranks, Sturmey Archer also made a name for itself by building and patenting the “Dynohub.” Dynohubs are electrical generators that are built directly into the hub, so when you pedal, you’re actually generating the power for the light. Although they’re not manufactured today, you can sometimes find these great lights on eBay or similar sights. They’re a really cool, vintage accessory to have on any bicycle, but particularly if you’re going for a retro look.
